Abstract
Prometni znakovi su osnovna sredstva komunikacije između nadležnih za ceste i sudionika u prometu. Da bi komunikacija bila učinkovita, znakovi moraju biti vidljivi, odnosno moraju imati zadovoljavajuća retroreflektirajuća svojstva. Zadovoljavajućim retroreflektirajućim svojstvima doprinijeti će se pravovremenom uočavanju prometnih znakova te reagiranju vozača u skladu sa situacijom. Loše postavljeni i nedovoljno vidljivi prometni znakovi smatraju se bitnim uzrokom prometnih nesreća. Iz navedenih razloga potrebno je periodički ispitivati retrorefleksiju prometnih znakova kako bi se osigurala njihova kvaliteta, a time i funkcionalnost. Cilj ovog rada je analizom podataka o vrijednosti retrorefleksije prometnih znakova prikupljenih na cestama duž RH utvrditi prosječnu starost znakova za svaku klasu materijala nakon garantnog roka te na temelju navedenih prosječnih starosti procijeniti njihovu funkcionalnost u smislu zadovoljavanja minimalnih propisanih vrijednosti retrorefleksije. Također, na temelju rezultata analize moguće je definirati vremenski interval u kojem je potrebno provesti kontrolna ispitivanja retrorefleksije.

Traffic signs are basic mean of communication between entities for road management and road users. For this communication to be efficient, signs must be visible, i.e. they must have satisfying retro-reflective properties. Satisfactory retro-reflective properties will contribute to driver’s perception, detection and response. Poorly placed and poorly visible traffic signs are considered to be important causes of traffic accidents. For these reasons it is necessary to periodically test retro-reflection of traffic signs to ensure their quality and thus functionality. The aim of this paper is to analyze traffic signs retro-reflection data collected on the roads along the Croatia which will result in determine the average age of the signs for each class of retro-reflective materials after the warranty period and based on that the assessment of traffic signs functionality, in terms of meeting the minimum prescribed values of retro-reflection. Also, based on the results of the analysis it is possible to define the time interval in which it is necessary to conduct control tests of retro-reflection.
