Abstract

Velika eksploatacija fosilnih goriva dovela je do povećane potražnje za alternativnim izvorima energije. U završnom radu detaljnije je opisan pojam biogoriva, kriteriji za njegovu uporabu te podjela na generacije. Također se navode prednosti i nedostatci biogoriva gledano sa ekološkog aspekta primjene i direktiva Europske unije glede biogoriva. Nastavak rada odnosi se na uporabu biodizelskog goriva na pogonskim uređajima cestovnih motornih vozila kao i sam nastanak i proizvodnja biogoriva. Prikazana je mogućnost proizvodnje biodizela u Europskoj uniji te usporedba sa mogućnostima Republike Hrvatske. Posebno je dan naglasak na ekološki aspekt uvođenja biodizela u Republici Hrvatskoj. Biogoriva kao obnovljivi izvor energije od posebnog su interesa za Republiku Hrvatsku jer bi u većim količinama mogla zamijeniti fosilna goriva u cestovnom prometu te bi dovela do značajnijeg smanjenja stakleničkih plinova.

Abstract (english)

Large exploitations of fossil fuels has led to increased demand for alternative energy sources. This final paper describes more details about the concept of biofuels, the criteria for its use and the distribution on generations. It also points out advantages and disadvantages of biofuels observed from an environmental point of application and from European Union’s directives of biofuels. The paper follows up the use of biodiesel in road vehicles and process of production of biofuels. Possibility of production in European Union is shown and compared to possibilities of production in Croatia. Special emphasis was given on environmental benefit of introduction of biofuels in Croatia. Biofuels, as a renewable source of energy, are important for Croatia because, in large quantities, it could substitute fossil fuels in road traffic and it would lead to significant decrease of greenhouse gases.
