Abstract
Upravljanje mobilnošću se nameće kao jedan od najzahtjevnijih i najvažnijih problema za mobilne komunikacije preko Interneta, a do toga dovodi konvergencija Interneta i mobilnih komunikacija te sve veći porast broja mobilnih korisnika. Upravljanje mobilnošću omogućuje poslužujućoj mreži lociranje trenutne mrežne točke na koju je spojen mobilni uređaj za isporuku podataka (upravljanje lokacijom) i održavanje veze mobilnog pretplatnika prilikom promjene pristupne točke (upravljanje prekapčanjem). Mobile IP je najkorišteniji protokol za upravljanje makro mobilnošću. Kao dodatak MIP-u, opisane su dvije arhitekture za makro mobilnost: upravljanje mobilnošću koristeći SIP protokol i upravljanje mobilnošću bazirano na mrežnom agentu za interoperabilnost (NIA).

With the convergence of the Internet and wireless mobile communications and with the rapid growth in the number of mobile subscribers, mobility management emerges as one of the most important and challenging problems for wireless mobile communication over the Internet. Mobility management enables the serving networks to locate a mobile subscriber’s point of attachment for delivering data packets (location management), and maintain a mobile subscriber’s connection as it continues to change its point of attachment (handoff management). Mobile IP is the most widely used protocol for macro-mobility management. In addition to Mobile IP, two macro-mobility architectures are discussed: SIP-based mobility management and network inter-working agent-based mobility management (NIA).
