Abstract
Programski alati za simulaciju računalnih mreža omogućavaju izradu mreža korištenjem virtualnih mrežnih komponenata i eksperimentiranje s mrežama izrađenim u takvom sintetskom okruženju. Postoji širok spektar alata za simulaciju računalnih mreža, a u ovom radu se koriste Cisco Packet Tracer i GNS3. Moguće je podijeliti rad na teoretski i praktični dio. Teoretskim dijelom obuhvaćen je uvod u području računalnih mreža s naglaskom na mreže širokog područja. U tom dijelu analizirane su performanse mreža širokog područja i alati za simulaciju računalnih mreža, a također su obrađeni i osnovni pojmovi, karakteristike, komponente, način rada i tehnologije mreža širokog područja. Praktični dio ovoga rada obuhvaća simulaciju mreže širokog područja putem programske podrške Cisco Packet Tracer i GNS3. Simulacija je podijeljena u tri faze: dizajniranje mreže, konfiguracija mrežnih komponenata i testiranje mreže.

Software tools for computer network simulation enable creation of networks using virtual network components and experimenting with networks made in such a synthetic environment. There is a wide range of network simulation tools and in this thesis are used Cisco Packet Tracer and GNS3. This thesis can be divided on the theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part include introduction to the field of computer networks with an emphasis on the wide area network. This part analyzes the performance of wide area network and tools for computer network simulation, also this part includes basic concepts, characteristics, components, operations and technologies of wide area network. The practical part of this thesis include simulation of a wide area network using Cisco Packet Tracer and GNS3. The simulation is divided into three phases: designing the network, configuration of network components and network testing.
