Abstract
Kako bi se povećala snaga četverotaktnih motora s unutarnjim izgaranjem, potrebno je dovesti veću količinu zraka u cilindar motora prilikom takta usisa. Pošto je volumen cilindra ograničen, zrak je potrebno stlačiti, odnosno povećati njegovu gustoću. U tu svrhu se koriste dodatni uređaji za povećanje tlaka zraka. Nabijanjem se postiže i veća efektivna korisnost motora, time i manja specifična potrošnja goriva. Turbopunjači i mehanički punjači imaju široku primjenu u autoindustriji. Ugrađuju se u dizelske i u benzinske motore. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati princip rada tih uređaja, posebno turbopunjača, i njihov utjecaj na eksploatacijske značajke cestovnih vozila kod kojih se koriste.

It is necessary to increase amount of air inside the cylinder in the intake stroke to increase output power of the four-stroke internal combustion engine. Since the volume of the cylinder is limited, it is necessary to pressurize the air and increase its density. Additional devices are used for this purpose. With this devices, greater engine efficiency is achieved, which causes lower specific fuel consumption. Turbochargers and superchargers are widely used in the automotive industry. They are installed in both the diesel and the gasoline engines. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the operation method of these devices, focusing on the turbocharger, and their impact on the exploitation features of road vehicles in which they are used.
