Abstract

Internet stvari (engl. Internet of Things - IoT) pruža jednostavna rješenja za povezivanje objekata s Internetom i jedan je od najbrže rastućih aspekata informacijskih i komunikacijskih tehnologija. Nagli razvoj IoT-a dovodi do pojave mreža širokog područja male snage (engl. Low Power Wide Area Network - LPWAN), s obzirom da postojeći protokoli nisu zadovoljavali potrebama IoT-a u pogledu pokrivenosti, potrošnje energije i cijene. LoRaWAN, Sigfox i NB-IoT bežične senzorske mreže vodeće su LPWAN mreže na IoT tržištu koje pružaju učinkovita rješenja za prijenos male količine podataka na velike udaljenosti uz nisku potrošnju energije. U radu su navedene i opisane sve bitne značajke pojedine mreže, a usporedba je provedena na temelju ključnih IoT čimbenika koji određuju njihovu izvedivost u različitim slučajevima primjene. Također, razmatrano je nekoliko slučajeva upotrebe te je objašnjeno koja mreža najučinkovitije odgovara traženim zahtjevima pojedine IoT aplikacije.

Abstract (english)

Internet of Things (IoT) offers simple solutions for connecting devices to the Internet and is one of the fastest growing aspects of information and communication technologies. The rapid development of IoT introduced us to Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), given that the existing protocols did not satisfy the needs of IoT in terms of coverage, energy consumpiton and price. LoRaWAN, Sigfox and NB-IoT wireless sensor networks are currently the leading LPWAN networks on the IoT market that offer effective solutions for transmitting small amounts of data over great distances all the while consuming small amounts of energy. This paper lists and explains all the important features of each individual network type, and their comparison was conducted based upon key IoT factors which determine the networks applicability in different applications. Furthermore, a few application use cases were pondered and the paper explains in detail which network type best suits the individual requirements of any given IoT application.
