Abstract

U današnjem svijetu, bežične mreže su neizostavni dio modernog života. Neprestano se razvijaju, unaprjeđujući načine komunikacije te konzumaciju multimedijskog sadržaja. Kako se razvijaju nove tehnologije koje omogućuju stvaranje multimedijskog sadržaja, ali i tehnologije Interneta stvari, tako se razvija i sve veća potreba za tehnologijom koja će omogućiti konzumaciju tog sadržaja na daljinu te omogućiti komunikaciju u stvarnom vremenu između uređaja te njihovih korisnika. Upravo zbog toga je razvijen najnoviji standard Wi-Fi-ja, IEEE 802.11ax. U ovom radu bit će objašnjeno kako općenito funkcioniraju WLAN mreže, a zatim u detalje opisano kako funkcionira 802.11ax mreža, kakva je njena arhitektura, te što je omogućilo postizanje prednosti koje ima nad starijim tehnologijama.

Abstract (english)

In today's world, wireless networks are an unavoidable part of modern life. They are constantly evolving, improving ways of communication and the consummation of multimedia content. As new technologies are developing, such as the Internet of things and technologies which enable creation of multimedia content, along with them grows the need for a technology which will enable consummation of that very content remotely and enable realtime communication between the devices and their users. Because of that a new Wi-Fi standard was developed, the IEEE 802.11ax. This paper will explain how WLAN networks generally function, and then in details describe how 802.11ax network works, how its architecture looks, and what enabled it to achieve the advantages it has over the older technologies.
