Abstract
Modeli za prikaz računalnih mreža služe kako bi se na što jednostavniji način opisao rad računalnih mreža, najveći problem je nastao onda kada je bilo potrebno prikazati entitete koji putuju mrežom gdje dolazi do niza kompleksnih procesa koji su se morali raščlaniti kako bi se što lakše shvatili ti isti procesi. OSI i TCP/IP modeli su danas najkorišteniji modeli koji nude opis arhitekture računalnih mreža na apstraktan način, isti opisuju komunikacijske protokole, veze između sklopova i programa te općenito komunikaciju softvera i hardvera. Njihova primjena dolazi do izražaja pri projektiranju mreža, ali i pri proučavanju mreže jer su ovi modeli raščlanjeni u slojeve. U završnom radu opisane su osnovne značajke modela OSI te je napravljen pregled strukture i značajki modela TCP/IP. Prikazane su i analizirane funkcije karakterističnih slojeva modela OSI i TCP/IP. Napravljena je analiza i komparacija funkcija slojeva modela OSI i TCP/IP te su prikazane njihove prednosti i nedostaci.

Models for the computer networks can be used for the simplest describe operations of computer networks, the biggest problem is how to show the entities that travels in network where is a number of complex processes that had to be understood. OSI and TCP / IP model are today the most widely used models that offer a description of the architecture of computer networks in an abstract way, they describe communication protocols, connections between circuits and programs and generally software and hardware communication. Their used is evident in the design of the network, but also for the study of networks because these models are split into layers.In this final work are described basic features of the model OSI and was made an overview of the structure of the model TCP/IP. It shows an analyzed functions of the characteristic layers of the models OSI and TCP/IP. It was made an analyze and comparison of the function of the models OSI and TCP/IP and there are shown advantages and disadvantages.
