Abstract

U radu je prikazana tematika sigurnosti cestovnog prometa na cestama u
svijetu i u Republici Hrvatskoj s posebnim osvrtom na brzinu, kao uzrokom prometnih
nesreća. Od kada postoje statistike, u Hrvatskoj povijesti se povećavao broj poginulih
na cestama, sve dok nije donesen prvi Nacionalni program sigurnosti cestovnog
prometa 1994. godine. Od tada se poĉelo sustavno i planirano raditi na povećanju
sigurnosti u prometu što je za posljedicu imalo osjetno smanjen broj prometnih
nesreća i stradavanja. Najveći problem sigurnosti u cestovnom prometu je
nepropisna i neprilagoĊena brzina, koja je uzrok najvećem broju prometnih nesreća i
smrtno stradalih osoba. Potrebno je sustavno i zajedniĉko djelovanje svih subjekata
zaduţenih za sigurnost cestovnog prometa u rješavanju tih negativnih posljedica te ih
pokušati svesti na minimum.

Abstract (english)

This paper presents the topic of the road safety on the roads in the world as
well as in Croatia, with special emphasis on speed as a cause of traffic accidents.
According to the statistics, in Croatian history, the number of road deaths had
increased in a year until the first National Road Safety Programme of the Republic of
Croatia was passed in 1994. Since then a systematic and planned work began to
improve the safety in traffic, resulting in a significantly reduced number of road
accidents and casualties. The biggest problem of road safety is in appropriate and
incompatible speed that is responsible for the greatest number of traffic accidents
and fatalities. It takes systematic and joint action of all entities responsible for the
road safety to deal with these negative consequences and to try to reduce them to a
minimum.
