Abstract
Prva generacija mobilne mreže (1G) je puštena u promet od strane Japanskog operatera 1979 godine. Mreža je bila analogna i omogućavala je isključivo glasovne usluge. Međutim, sa drugom generacijom mobilne mreže (2G, GSM), koja je bila digitalna, počinje i nagli razvoj mreže, tehnologije, i mobilnih uređaja. Treća generacija mobilne mreže (3G, UMTS) , uz usluge poziva i poruka, omogućuje značajno veće brzine pristupa Internetu. LTE mreža (4G), koja je nasljednik 3G mreža, pruža još veće brzine prijenosa. Razvoj mobilnih mreža se nastavlja dolaskom 5G mreža.

The goal of present paper is to provide an overview of mobile network architectures through diverse technological generations. First generation of mobile network (1G) was released by the Japanese operator in 1979; it was analog network and allowed only voice services. Second generation of mobile network (2G, GSM) was digital and characterized by a rapid development of technology, network components, and cell phones. Third generation of mobile network, known as 3G (UMTS), beside voice and messaging services, enabled access to the Internet at significant higher speeds. LTE network (4G), being the successor of UMTS, provides even greater transmission speeds and greater affordability. The development of mobile networks continues with the advent of 5G networks.
