Abstract
Inteligentni transportni sustavi (ITS) primjenjuju napredne tehnologije elektronike, komunikacije, računala, nadziranja te istraživanja i otkrivanja u svim vrstama transportnog sustava s ciljem poboljšanja sigurnosti i učinkovitosti usluga i prometne situacije kroz prijenos informacija u stvarnom vremenu, te povećanje energetske učinkovitosti i promicanje razvoja srodnih industrija. Inteligentni transportni sustavi, kao i bilo koji proizvod ili usluga jednog nacionalnog gospodarstva mogu biti predmet izvozne djelatnosti, što predstavlja jedan od razloga ekonomske opravdanosti njihovog uvođenja. Opravdanost ulaganja u razvoj inteligentnih transportnih sustava je neupitna i predstavlja veliku priliku za gospodarstvo neke zemlje, a posebno za ona gospodarstva koja su u tijeku tranzicije ili su tranzicijski proces tek prerasle. Uvjerljivi razlozi „za” ITS slijede iz poraznih podataka o sigurnosti i eksternim troškovima odvijanja prometa. Prema podacima organizacije WHO (World Health Organization) preko 1,2 milijuna ljudi svake godine smrtno strada u prometu, a 50 milijuna biva ozlijeđeno. Ukupni izravni i eksterni troškovi prometnih nesreća iznose 3 do 4 % BDP-a pojedinih zemalja. Vizija ITS-a je primjena računala i informacijske tehnologije na transportne sustave i vozila za podizanje kapaciteta postojeće infrastrukture u ukupnom društvenom trošku koji je manji od cijene izgradnje nove infrastrukture većih fizičkih sposobnosti. Transportna učinkovitost koju ITS postavlja kao apsolutni prioritet, izravno vodi ka boljem, ekonomski isplativijem prijevozu. ITS tehnologija podržava poboljšanje individualnog prometa, kao i javni prijevoz, prijevoz robe i ostale načine prijevoza, te je izravno vezana uz uštede energije, goriva i novca.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) apply advanced technology of different branches: electronics, communications, computers, surveillance and research and discovery, in all types of transport system, in order to improve the safety and efficiency of services and traffic situation through the transfer of information in real-time, and to increaseenergy efficiency and promote the development of related industries. Intelligent Transport Systems, as well as any product or service of a national economy, may be a subject to export activities, which is one of the reasons for the economic justification of their introduction. Justification of investment in the development of intelligent transport systems is unquestioned and represents a great opportunity for a country economy , especially for those economies which are in transition processor have just been through it. Solid reasons favoring ITS come from the shameful data of security and external costs of traffic. According to WHO (World Health Organization), over 1.2 million people every year decease in traffic, and 50 million more are injured.Total sum of direct and external costs of traffic accidents amount to 3-4% of the GDP of some countries. The vision of ITS is the application of computer and information technology to transport systems and vehicles for building the capacity of the existing infrastructure in the overall communal cost that is less than the toll of building new infrastructure of bigger physical abilities. Transport efficiency set by ITS as an absolute priority, directly leads to better, more cost-effective transportation. ITS technologies supports the improvement of individual traffic, as well as public transport, transport of goods and other modes of transportation, and it is directly related to savings of energy, fuel and money.
