Abstract
Zaustavni put motornog vozila jedna je od značajnijih veličina koje utječu na sigurnost cestovnog prometa. Na zaustavni put vozila utječu vozač, vozilo, cesta, promet na cesti i uvjeti koji prevladavaju u okolini. Brzina kretanja vozila jednaje od vrlo važnih veličina koja utječe na dužinu zaustavnog puta vozila. O brzini kretanja ovise i put reagiranja i put kočenja.Put reagiranja je put koji vozilo prijeđe za vrijeme uočavanja opasnosti ili prepreke od strane vozača te njegove reakcije potrebne da započne s procesom kočenja ivremena da kočioni sustav počne djelovati. Put kočenja je put koji vozilo prijeđe za trajanje kočenja. Na vrijeme reagiranja vozača utječu njegove subjektivne osobine, fizičko i psihičko stanje vozača i uvjeti objektivnih okolnosti. Važnost zaustavnog puta vozila apostrofirana je u prometnim nesrećama poput sudara vozila prilikom vožnje u slijedu, naleta na motociklistu, biciklistu, pješaka te udara vozila u objekt na ili pokraj ceste. Utjecanjem na čimbenike koji imaju značajnu ulogu u ostvarenju što kraćeg zaustavnog puta vozila poput smanjenja brzine kretanja vozila, povećanjem koeficijenta trenja između pneumatika i kolničkog zastora, pravilnim održavanjem kolnika i kolničkog zastora, povećanjem tehničke ispravnosti vozila i pravovremenim informiranjem vozača o vremenskim prilikama i incidentnim čimbenicima na cesti znatno bi se povećala sigurnost cestovnog prometa.

The stopping distance of the motor vehicle is one of the most significant variables that affect road safety. At the stopping impact driver, vehicle, road, traffic on the road and the conditions prevailing in the area. The speed of vehicles is one of the very important value which affects the length of the stopping of the vehicle. The speed of the dependent and the response time and braking distance. The way to respond is the path that the vehicle crosses during the hazard perception and obstacles by the driver and his reactions necessary to begin the process of braking and brake system time to take effect. The braking distance is the path that the vehicle crosses the duration of braking. On the driver's reaction time affect his subjective characteristics, physical and mental state of the driver and the conditions of objective circumstances. The importance of stopping the vehicle is emphasized in traffic accidents such as vehicle collision when driving in sequence, flying to motorcyclists, bicyclists, pedestrians and hitting an object on or near the road. Influencing factors that play a significant role in achieving the shortest stopping vehicles such as reducing the speed of the vehicle, increasing the coefficient of friction between the tire and the road surface overlay, proper maintenance of pavement and road surface overlay, increasing roadworthiness and timely information to the driver on the weather and incidental factors the road would significantly increase road safety.
