Abstract
LTE je četvrta generacija mobilnih mreža koja omogućuje bolje performanse mreže u odnosu na prethodnike u vidu brzine prijenosa podataka, propusnosti, pokrivenosti i kapaciteta. Svaka mreža se sastoji od više ćelija te korisnici u tijeku korištenja korisničke opreme prelaze iz područja jedne ćelije na područje druge ćelije. U trenutku prelaska s jedne ćelije na drugu, mreža mora pokrenuti proces preuzimanja poziva ili podataka i to treba učiniti na nesmetan način kako korisnik to ne bi niti primijetio u smislu degradacije kvalitete ili prekida usluge. Također korisnik sa svojom opremom može preći iz područja mreže koja koristi LTE tehnologiju na područje mreže koja koristi GPRS tehnologiju. Taj proces također mora proći nesmetano i neprimjetno za korisnika. U ovome radu je prikazan način preuzimanja poziva ili podatkovne sesije u trenutku prelaska iz jedne ćelije u drugu i u trenutku prelaska na mrežu druge pristupne tehnologije.

LTE is the fourth generation mobile networks that enables better network performance than its predecessor in the form of data transfer rates, bandwidth, coverage and capacity. Each network consists of multiple cells and users are moving from one cell area to another with their user equipment. At the time of switching from one cell to another, the network has to initiate the handover process and this should be done in unimpeded way so that the user would not even notice it in terms of quality degradation or interruption of service. Also users with their equipment can move from area network which uses LTE technology in the area of network using GPRS technology. This process also has to go smoothly and seamlessly for users. This thesis will explain handover process between two cells using same radio access technology and handover between different radio access technologies.
