Abstract

Važan aspekt u višeuslužnim mrežama je osiguranje kvalitete usluge kako bi se osigurale različite razine mrežnih performansi pojedinim tokovima podataka. U području paketno komutiranih telekomunikacijskih mreža, kvaliteta usluge uvelike ovisi o načinu klasifikacije različitih prometnih tokova i metodi dodjele kapaciteta odlaznog linka pojedinim tokovima. Sukladno tome, metode za dodjelu kapaciteta implementirane su u mrežnim čvorovima u cilju minimiziranja nedostatka resursa i osiguravanja pravednosti između tokova podataka koji koriste mrežne resurse. U radu su opisane značajke i funkcionalnosti Weighted Fair Queueing (WFQ) metode dodjele kapaciteta koja se temelji na konceptu pravednosti i osigurava da svaki tok podataka dobije određeni udio kapaciteta veze. Pomoću OPNET simulacijskog alata, provedena je analiza performansi WFQ metode u odnosu na druge poznate metode dodjele kapaciteta. Analiza je izvršena na temelju nekoliko parametara kvalitete usluge u cilju ocjenjivanja izvedbe WFQ metode prilikom prijenosa prometa različitih vrsta aplikacija.

Abstract (english)

An important aspect in multiservice networks is quality of service assurance so that different levels of network performance to individual data flows can be provided. In the field of packet-switched telecommunications networks, the quality of service largely depends on the method of classification of different traffic flows and the method of allocating outgoing link capacity to individual flows. Accordingly, capacity allocation methods are implemented in network nodes in order to minimize resource shortages and ensure fairness between data flows that use network resources. This study describes the features and functionality of the Weighted Fair Queueing (WFQ) capacity allocation method, which is based on the concept of fairness and ensures that each data flow receives a certain share of the connection capacity. Using the OPNET simulation tool, an analysis of the performance of the WFQ method in relation to other known capacity allocation methods was performed. The analysis was performed on the basis of several quality of service parameters in order to evaluate the performance of the WFQ method when transferring traffic of different types of applications.
