Abstract
Prometni znakovi se postavljaju kako bi korisnicima pružili adekvatnu i pravovremenu informaciju te na taj način omogućili sigurno odvijanje prometa. Noć i loši vremenski uvjeti, s obzirom na vidljivost, predstavljaju najsloženije situacije u prometu iz razloga što se u navedenim uvjetima vidno polje znatno smanjuje čime se usporava proces percepcije te umanjuje njegova točnost. Da bi prometni znakovi bili uočljivi i kako bi sudionici u prometu mogli pravovremeno reagirati izrađuju se od retroreflekirajućih materijala. Važan element održavanja prometnih znakova je njihovo ispitivanje. Snaga retrorefleksije s godinama i pod utjecajem vanjskih čimbenika se smanjuje te je potrebno provoditi periodička ispitivanja retrorefleksije kako bi se ocijenila kvaliteta prometnih znakova. Na temelju kontinuiranih ispitivanja retrorefleksije prometnih znakova, koje je provodio Zavod za prometnu signalizaciju Fakulteta prometnih znanost, izrađeni su modeli degradacije retrorefleksije pojedinih materijala i boja prometnih znakova. Cilj izrade modela je dobivanje mogućnosti predviđanja retrorefleksije prometnih znakova te optimiziranje cjelokupnog procesa održavanja.

Parallel abstract (English)
Traffic signs are placed on the road to give adequate and prompt information and to ensure safe traffic flow. Considering visibility, night and bad weather conditions are most complicated situations in traffic due to the extreme decrease of visual field and slowing down the process of perception and its accuracy. To keep traffic signs visible and make sure that drivers can react on time, they are being made out of retroreflective material. Important element of maintaining traffic signs are their examination. The strength of retroreflection is decreasing due to the years and impact of external factors, therefore periodic examination of retroreflection are needed to assess their quality. Based on continual examination of retroreflection of traffic signs, made by The Institute for Traffic Lights of the Faculty of Traffic Engineering, models of retroreflection degradation of some materials and the colors of traffic signs were made. The goal of making these models is making the possibility of predicting the retroreflection of traffic signs and optimising the whole proccess of maintaining them.
