Abstract

U završnom radu opisan je značaj simulacija u informacijsko-komunikacjskom prometu te značajke i uloga mrežnih simulatora. Mrežni simulatori služe za predviđanje rada različitih vrsta računalnih mreža, povečanje pouzdanosti i smanjenje troškova pri razvijanju novih mrežnih tehnologija. Analizirane su različite karatkeristike mrežnih simulatora GNS3 (besplatan) i Riverbed Modeler (licenciran), te su prepoznate njihove prednosti i nedostatci. Na temelju ključnih pokazatelja i praktičnog primjera (kroz odabrani scenarij) napravljena je komparativna analiza mrežnih simulatora GNS3 i Riverbed Modeler. Kroz praktičnu primjenu prepoznata je važnost mrežnih simulatora kao programskih alata u funkciji analize i razvoja računalnih mreža.

Abstract (english)

This paper describes the significance of network simulators in information-communication traffic as well as the significance and role of the network simulators. Network simulators are used to predict the operations of various types of computer networks, to increase their reliability and to reduce the costs on the occation of developing new network technologies. Various features of network simulators GNS3 (free) and Riverbed Modeler (licenced) are analysed, and their benefits and shortcomings are listed. On the basis of key indicators and practical examples (through the selected scenario), a comparative analysis of network simulators GNS3 and Riverbed Modeler has been made. The practical example made it possible to recognise the significance of network simulators as a software instrument in the function of analysing and developing computer networks.
